At the end of last year, the prestigious automotive competition TEST THE BEST, organized by AUTO BILD Bulgaria, recognized the most significant new models in the country. Among them was the plug-in hybrid version of our best-selling model – the Honda CR-V. The honorary award was presented today, January 28, 2025, by the magazine’s editors at the brand’s showroom at 111A Bulgaria Blvd. in Sofia.
Each year, the finalists are determined through online voting by readers, while the winners are selected after an intensive one-day comparative test. This year’s event took place in Pravets, hosted by Hyatt Regency Pravets Resort.
This is not the first time Honda has won this prestigious award. In 2022, the prize was awarded directly to Bultraco AD for the successful first 30 years of Honda’s presence in Bulgaria. A year earlier, the award went to the electric Honda e, in 2020, the Honda Jazz Hybrid received the most votes in the Compact Car category, and in 2019, the legendary and exciting GL1800 Gold Wing motorcycle was honored.
The plug-in hybrid CR-V represents the sixth generation of Honda’s best-selling model. Earlier, both of its versions received a maximum five-star safety rating in EuroNCAP crash tests.
The e:PHEV version is front-wheel drive only, but like the full hybrid model, it features a Snow mode.
Both versions are powered by a 2.0-liter, 4-cylinder gasoline engine with direct injection, operating on the Atkinson cycle, producing a maximum output of 148 hp. It is paired with a powerful electric motor generating 184 hp. The battery provides an 81 km range in all-electric mode. The CR-V e:PHEV emits just 18 g/km of CO₂ and consumes only 0.8 L/100 km with a fully charged battery. When the battery is depleted, the vehicle transitions into a traditional hybrid mode with increased fuel consumption values.
